Minna + the world: Tela + this week

Peaaegu 4 nädalat on veel jäänud kuni tagasi Inglismaale lendan. Isegi kui niiväga igatsen kõike, ma olen kindel et mul on kurb siit ära ka tulla, sest kui pikka aega koos elad kellegiga muutub see grupp nagu teiseks pereks ning hakkan lapsi ka igatsema. Sa tead kõiki ning nende positiivseid ja negatiivseid külgi.

Igatahes, eelmine reede oli meil rannapäev kõigi lastega. Meil oli mitu gruppi, mõned tegelesid võrkpalliga, teised liivakindluste ehitamisega. Mina vastutasin ujumise eest. Vedas ka ilmaga sest terve päev oli päikeseline. Peale seda läksime Tela’sse nädalavahetuseks mis on paar tundi siit bussiga. Tela on üks linn ranna ääres ning rand on seal mitu korda parem kui siin ning puhtam ka. Tela pole nii suur kui La Ceiba õnneks ning õhk ka ei tundunud ka nii reostatud nagu igas linnas siin riigis. Jõudsime nelja ajal sinna, viisime oma asjad ühte majja kus ööbisime, omanike juurde keda mõned teised vabatahtlikud teavad. Jagasime kolmekesi ühte tuba siis. Toad olid väga suured ning lõpetamata veel aga suhteliselt hubane oli seal. Läksime linna peale jalutama ning siis pizzat sööma. Järgmine hommik läksid kõik teised ühe saare peale, aga kuna me teeme loosipakid siin kõigi vabatahtlikega (kuid keegi ei tea kes kellele teeb ning ei saa teada ka), pidin ma kingitust otsima minema. Õhtul läksime ühte lähedal asuvasse majja kus oli mingisugune pidu ning meile pandi lihtsalt tasuta õhtusöök seal ette ning terve õhtu oli tasuta õlu :D

Pühapäeva veetsime lihtsalt rannas päevitades ning siis tagasi El Porvenir’I. Kuna me tulime bussist kuskil maanteel maha pidime me hääletama tagasi koju. Meil vedas ning üks ameeriklane võttis meid peale.

Terve nädal on olnud väga tegevusterohke, pidin isegi nädalakava kirjutama endale asjades mis ma tegema pean. Kuna see on jõulunädal, ma mõtlesin et tore oleks lastele piparkooke valmistada. Täna oli talent show ning vabatahtlikega tegime ka ühe tantsu pluss iga VAP grupp ka tantsis. Meie grupp tantsis 3 laulu järgi mis olid kokku pandud, alguses Hakuna Matata ‘Lõvikuningast’, siis Gangnam Style ja Sexy and I know it remix. Me pidime need 2 viimast võtma sest Gangnam style on number 1 laul siin, on olnud juba kuid :D Peale talent show'd oli pakkusime isetehtud sööki lastele ja mõnedele vanematele ning olime suure piñata ka ostnud kus kommid sees olid ning mida

Esmaspäeval läksime restorani õhtul ning vahetasime kingitusi. See oli ka Stephanie viimane õhtu siin, aga ilmselt näen teda kui tagasi Londonisse lähen jaanuris. Neljapäeval läks Xavi ka tagasi Hispaaniasse. Kui tagasi tuleme Belize’st on ainult 5 alles jäänud pluss mõned uued kes detsembri lõpus tulevad ja jaanuari alguses.

Kolmapäev oli emme sünnipäev ning Kenneth, üks mu lemmikuid lapsi mu VAP grupist ütles ka Feliz cumpleanos telefonis talle mis tegi ta nii õnnelikuks.

Neljapäev oli üks paremaid päevi lastega mis olnud on, vb sellepärast et see oli viimane päev sellel aastal ning kuni 7ndani on nüüd puhkust. Värvisime jõulukaunistusi, glasuurisime piparkooke ning nii lõbus oli üleüldse.

Mina, Brit, Diana ja Philipp alustame oma reisi siis pühapäeval ning lähme praamiga Belize’i esmaspäeval. 30ndal ületama Mehhiko piiri ning vanal aastal oleme Playa del Carmen’is mis on tund Cancun’ist kuhu me ei lähe sest kõik kes seal käinud on ütlevad et ei ole väärt seda ning üsna kole on ka seal. Tagasi hakkame tulema 2. Jaanuaril vist. Ei jõua ära oodata !

Almost 4 more weeks left until I fly back to England. Even though I miss everything and everybody so much I’m sure it’s going to be really sad to leave here, because of the kids and because of the friends I’ve made here. The longer you live with some people it kind of becomes your little family, where you share the jokes etc, so it’s sad to say good bye.

Anyway, last Friday it was a beach day with all the kids from VAP. We had lots of stations, some played volleyball, built sandcastles, I took care of the swimming station with couple of other volunteers. We were also lucky with the weather as it was sunny the whole day. After that we went to Tela for the weekend. It is a town 2 hours from here by bus and the beach there is so many nicer and has less rubbish. Tela isn’t as big as La Ceiba and the air didn’t seem as polluted as in almost every city in Honduras. We brought our stuff to a little hostel. Some other volunteers knew the owner of that place. 3 of us shared the room that didn’t really look that Honduran, as the owner is half American. Really comfy and cosy. The next day the others took a trip to a little peninsula and I stayed back as I needed to search something for my Secret Santa gift for another volunteer. In the evening we went to a house party close by. They just randomly put a free dinner in front of us plus free beers the whole night :D Sunday was just a beach day and then we made our way back to El Porvenir. As we came off the bus in the middle of the highway somewhere, we had to hitchhike back, luckily one American gave us a lift.

The whole week has been really busy so I even had to make a weekly schedule and wrote down everything I have to do. As it’s the Christmas week, I thought it would be nice to make gingerbreads for our kids and let them decorate. Then we also made play dough for tree decorations. Today was the talent show where our volunteer group also danced together plus all the VAP groups as well. Our group daced to 3 songs put together, at the beginning ‘Hakuna Matata’ which is followed by a remix of ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Sexy and I Know it’. The children insisted those last ones because Gangnam Style is number 1 here and has been more months. :D After the show we had a big get together with the kids and some of their parents, cooked lots of food for it, also had a huge piñata full of candies.

On Monday we went to a restaurant where we exchanged our Secret Santa gifts. It was Stephanie’s last night here as well but we’ll meet up in London when I come back. Xavi left as well, so basically when we come back it’s gonna be only 5 of us here plus some new volunteers who are coming at the end of December and beginning of January.

On Wednesday it was my mum’s birthday so one of my favourite kids, Kenneth, also said Feliz cumpleanos over the phone. It made her so happy :D

Thursday was one of the best days I’ve had here with the kids, maybe also because it was the last day until the 7^th of January. It was arts day so we coloured Christmas decorations, decorated gingerbreads with icing, and it was fun overall.

Me, Brit, Philipp and Diana are gonna start our journey to Belize on Sunday then and will cross the border on Monday morning. We’re planning to make our way to Mexico on the 30^th of December and celebrate the New Year’s at the Playa del Carmen that is an hour away from Cancun where we are not going to go because all the others we’ve asked say it’s not worth it and quite ugly there. I think we start coming back on the 2^nd. Can’t wait !!
